Home Chapter 10

 This is not The Greatest Song in the World, no.
This is just a tribute.
Couldn't remember The Greatest Song in the World, no, no.
This is a tribute.

She was listening to a Tenacious D song. Lying on the bed to her hotel room. It was as in she was 15 again.

That was true depression. Not all that suicide stuff people were always talking about.

Oh God. She really was reverting back to her 15 year old self.

The sarcastic, consistently heartbroken girl.

That wasn't a good year.

Well actually it was a good year up until April 8. Then everything just spiraled downward from there.

She contemplated going to the hospital, but it would most likely be overcrowded with reporters or annoying people with the last name of a freakish looking bird. Option number one was officially rejected.

Call a friend. Keep herself sane.

Impossible. She threw her phone out the window, and her friends would somehow make her life worse than it already was at the present moment.

Stay in here. Be depressed. Listen to the newest song that would come up in 10 seconds.

Too boring. She had to always have something to do at all times.

Walk around Harmony again?

I already did. Nothing expect the hospital, police station, and the fire station were open. 'Party at the firehouse!' her mind sarcastically said.

Actually there was one place open she saw, but quickly passed by.

Some library or something. Reading wasn't her favorite thing, but it had to be better than this, and no way would she even attempt to do any work.

She then pulled herself up from the hard mattress, that her back would pay for later on, grabbed her thin coat, and exited the hotel room.

"What business do you have with me?" Romana questioned while walking into Richard's office for the second time that day. She didn't like call backs. Especially ones that required her to wake up from the first race of sleep she had gotten in three days time.

"I want something."

"You sound quite confidant you'll get what you want." she pointed out the dominance in his voice. "You know I hate it when people sound confidant. Pleas suit me much better."

He remained silent. A defiant look covered his face.

"What is it you want?" she detested silence.

"I want a favor."

"You're wasting my time."

"I want favor."

"You've estlibished that."

"I want you to do what I ask."

"Goodbye Richard. I sense you've gone insane." she pulled a gun on him.

His face still had the defiant expression. "Theresa. Johnson." he stated clearly.

A flash of shock and fear went through her eyes, but was immediately replaced by the same calm manor that overtook her each day.

"What does that name have anything to do with me."

"You  know." he smiled.

"Well yes, I like her clothing, but I wouldn't miss the girl."

"She was once all you had." he watched as she lowered the gun.

"It's somewhat obvious you haven't done your homework Richard. Nice attempt, but there's more than you could ever know about my life before this company. Favor denied." she got up to exit the room.

"Such a pity an innocent girl will die then in approximately, " he looked down to his Rolex, "10 minutes."

"No. Not really." she then pushed open his office door to make a call.

She would never let him win.

Thus began her next 3 days without sleep.

"Sorry I couldn't get here sooner." Pilar said, as she practically ran into Ivy.

"I think you got here faster than I did." she dismally commented.

"He'll be all right."

"I hope so."

"Who did this?"

"Some girl. She hit him on the temple with a cell phone, 'on accident." her voice filled with venom.

"She'll get taken care of. Alistar would never let anyone get away with this type of thing."

"That's what I keep telling myself, but even Julian isn't here. I'm surprised the press hasn't."

"Actually, " Pilar started, "Somebody is blocking them off outside. It took me forever to convince him to let me in."

"Explains why the hospital in deserted." Ivy commented looking at the countless empty chairs.

Just then, one of the other few people walked up to the two.

"Mr. Crane is doing much better than we expected." the nurse started with a smile. Probably knowing she was almost out of the clear of getting sued or something. "Actually, he somehow miracousily has recently come out of the coma. Medical miracle I suppose," she saw the looks on the two women's' faces began to glow, "but, that's all the hard facts we can tell you at the moment. He hasn't been capable of talking recently, but it's most likely temporary shock. Umm...think Austin Powers when he first was unfrozen and how he had trouble controlling 'the volume of his voice.' She raised her voice at the last comment as she gave a slight chuckle, to what she though was a hilarious comment.

Pilar and Ivy just looked at each other, with a confused expression.

"Why are you comparing my son with a movie character?" Ivy demanded to know, as the nurses smile turned 'upside down' as a kindergarten teacher would say.

"Ju-Just using an example."

"Can you just tell us if we can see him." Pilar cut off the two bickering women.

"Room number 163." she then scampered off.

~~~~~~~~~~~
It took him 1 hour to get to there for a 3 second job.
But he would have gladly traveled 13 for his job.
So many people complained that they hated what they did for a living.
He wasn't one of them.
It was all he had.
It was all he ever had.
When he was a child he was always fascinated with guns.
When he was a teenager he participated in multiple paint ball wars.
When he turned 18 he bought his first weapon.
At 19 he held up his first store clerk.
19 and 6 months he killed his first innocent victim.
At 20 he was offered a job.
Now at 23 he was about to kill his 237th person.
And there she was.
Walking towards some building.
Most likely the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.
But he knew far too many like her.
Getting by in life based on looks alone. No more.
He took his rage, and pointed his weapon.
A bell rang.
A shot fired.
A red stain.
'Damn!'
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Light hurt.

He liked it the way it was before.

When it was dark and peaceful.

When noise couldn't be heard.

But nothing lasted forever.

And then extreme pain took over.

Most of in originating from his head.

His eyes roamed the room.

'What happened?' he thought to himself as he felt a large gush of wind, and noticed a figure standing before him.

And then he tried to talk, but the sound was unable to escape his mouth.

And then panic set in.
