Unknown Passions: Fan Fiction

Artificial Flowers Chapter 1

A photo was all she truly had left. A simple frame that…fit, with the picture obvisouly made in the one hour photo department of CVS. 5 people standing together, all with true smiles. A cute couple on the couch snuggling into each other, due to the frosty winter air that made it's way into the house. 1 woman standing between 2 men behind the couch. All smiling. Not those fake smirks she showed the world, but a true smile.

It was her favorite photo. It was the one photo she refused to show the one person that mattered. Mandie.

The couple being her and Fox. The woman being her mother. The two men, Luis and Miguel.

It was taken at a time when she knew the true meaning of happiness.

A feeling that rarely existed post Harmony.

But Mandie would never know of her family. She would never know of Fox. Or her mother's past.

What did it matter. She built a good life for her daughter. Hell, a great life!

She owned a fashion line, a mansion, and most importantly, was no longer poor.

She made a life for her daughter. Something a lot of people wouldn't be able to say.

Her 14 year old daughter. Her beautiful 14 year old daughter who never listened to a word she said, and was spoiled beyond belief. Although she was still a good person.

14 long years ago she ran away from all she knew. Her entire life. The town she had know since she herself was a child.

She ran form so many things. Ethan. Problems. Truth.

She could never go back. Never make contact again.

It didn't matter though. She was now in L.A. Where she was happy…somewhat.

An innocent pair of brown eyes peered in to the front seat of the car where her Mommy and Daddy sat. Arguing about some politics or whatever.

She refrained herself from asking why it had to be here. Harmony was home.

This excuse for a place wasn't what she considered to be a great place.

But apparently it offered wonderful `opportunties.' That and her Dad's salary was doubled if he transferred to the L.A office.

Julia looked over towards her older brother. Once again on his Walkman, listening to some type of rock music she could hear over here.

`God this place is going to be terrible.' Her thoughts then began to wander.

“Hey guys can I crash at someone's house tonight?” Jason started the conversation between elite group he happened to be a member of, that happened to gather in the courtyard of one the most prestigious prep schools in the city.

“Why?” Heather asked.

“My parents are having another one of those parties, and I don't want a bunch of drunk stars wandering around my house all night.”

“Come on, you could get some pics, and sell them to the National Inquirer?”

Before anybody else could comment Paul stepped in, “You can crash at my place.

“Hey Mandie.” A few people walked by giving a slight wave to the blonde hidden in between Heather and Jason.

She quietly acknowledged the girls, and then went back to the group.

“So, what are we doing tonight?” Kate asked.

Naturally, everyone decided to look over at the official party girl of the group.

Letting a sigh escape her mouth, she then replied to the question,  “I was just going to practice my tennis, order some pizza, and finish my homework.”

“You. Miss Party is going to stay in.” Heather commented in shock.

“I have a major test tomorrow.” A look of depression started to plaster itself to her face.

“Mind if I join in, considering we are in the same class and all. That and Rosa's coming tonight, and I really don't want hear my Father's mistress all night.” Kate asked.

“Sure.”

“So have you heard about the new kid?” Brian decided to get off the whole annoying parents issue. It was becoming a pattern recently, that in his mind needed to be stopped.

“What new kid?” half the group was now interested.

“Some new guy. He comes from a small town around the East coast.” Brian snickered.

“As long as he's hot, I'll be totally fine with him.” Heather smiled, while getting a slight giggle from Kate.

“But we all know he'll be second best to me.” Jason stepped in with his always reliable witty remarks.

Mandie then playfully hit him in the stomach using minimal force, “Shut up.”

Nicholas Samuel Lopez-Fitzgerald looked toward the sky, and blocking his view was his new school. His new, snobby prep school he was being forced to go to.

He hadn't even set foot in the building, and already he loathed the place.

One reason that contributed to the decision involved the uniform thing. Yes, he was forced to wear a tie to school each and everyday.

Why he didn't go to public schools, where he went in Harmony, was an unknown reason to him. Probably something to do with his Mom's obsession with getting a good education.

That and the fact he was offered a scholarship to the prepatory institution for better learning as he had heard a few administrators from Harmony call the place.

But still, he was forced to go here.

Maybe he could try to fail. That way he would get kicked out.

Their family wasn't exactly rich, so they wouldn't be able to keep him there.

No more ties. An idea he strongly favored.

Oh yes, another reason he didn't want to go here. The people around were rich snobs.

He wasn't even close to rich, much less a snob.

It was going to be a tough year.
