Unknown Passions: Fan Fiction

Sweet Revenge Complete Story

Another required party. Mandatory attendance. Why? He was unsure. Nothing good ever came of these.

Mingling with the other guests, he instantly saw, her. Off in a secluded corner she stood alone. His stare bore through her as she sipped on the glass of champagne while looking out the window, towards the gazebo. His eyes roaming over her smooth back, revealed by the red dress she was wearing. At that moment her head cocked towards him, their eyes locking for an intense gaze.

He was never good at reading the eyes of others. In fact he was terrible, but he could see by the lack of anyone else she was alone.

Why he cared, was unknown to him. Just then he felt his feet striding towards the brunette. Still keeping his blue eyes on her chocolate brown. “Mind if I ask why you're here?” he questioned smoothly.

“Have you ever just wanted to be invisible?” she turned her head to look out the window once again. He then looked out only to see a couple outdoors, on the gazebo.

“Sometimes.” He admitted. He highly doubted the stranger knew who he was, which happened to be the most unknown member of the Crane family. But there was a reason for that, “I always wanted to annoy the people who hated me without conquests.”

She didn't laugh at his attempt to lighten the mood. “It's such a beautiful night.”

“I assume it is. I haven't really noticed.”

“But it's the little things that make life worth living.” She smiled as a few memories entered her mind. Looking up at him, making eye contact once again, she then spoke in a soft voice, “Why is it the big things make you want to die?”

“But they even each other out.” His voice husky in a soft whisper.

“No. No they don't.” she turned her head towards the window once again.

“Who are they?” he questioned, knowing it wasn't the scenery she was looking at.

“You see that gazebo?” she didn't wait for an answer of any form before going on, “My Father built that with his bare hands. It's probably one of his few remaining memorabilia's.” Tears threatened to spill on her face as she talked, but years of experience here thought her to hold them in. Tears meant weakness.

“I'm sorry-” Fox began before she cut him off.
“He's been gone for years. I don't know where he is or if he's buried in the ground, but in all honesty I'm over it,” she wasn't

After a brief pause he finally said, “You never answered my question.”

“I know.” She continued to watch the gazebo as if she was willing it to move, while his eyes concentrated on her.

Studying her face, the grin expression, he finally blurted out, “The man, ex-boyfriend?” he asked, although already knowing the answer.

“Ex-fiancé.”

“And the girl?”

“His bride.” She admitted, while sipping on some champagne.

Normally a pick up line would flow through his mouth at this moment, but he could sense she would reject him in an instant. “If you really want to forget I recommend something stronger.”

“I'm not trying to get drunk.”

“It looked like it.” He retorted.

“This is only my first drink and I've been holding it for about half an hour so far.” She defended, once again turning to him. For the first time she truly noticed his eyes. They captivated her.

“Everyone has a story, what's yours?” she turned the questioning around on him, with a 50's detective movie line, wanting to know why he had so many emotions.

“You don't want to know.” He replied calmly, although on the inside he was alarmed that she wanted to know information about him.

“I revealed some personal information to you, it's only fair.” She gave a small grin wile looking up at him.

“Then there's nothing to tell. At least not that you would be interested in.”

“If I can sit through a Lord of The Rings movie I can sit through talking to you.” He found himself chuckling at her previous comment, as her smile widened.

“My parents are alive, but I'm nothing but a screw up in their eyes, and I've never been in love.” He admitted giving her a brief outline, that wouldn't turn her away from him.

“Love is highly overrated. Everyone says I love you, but they rarely ever mean it. I think the only reason some people even do is so they can get laid.” She said, as he remembered so many times using those words for that one purpose.

Memories still flashing in his mind he then replied, “Probably right.”

“I mean, how did I even know I was in love?” she asked no one in particular.

“I've been told you know after they're gone. Like you never really know when you're in the relationship, but after they leave somehow, you just know.”
“You know when you're in the relationship.” She quietly mumbled.

“I wouldn't know.” He replied, unsure of where to rest his eyes.

“She's looking at me.” Theresa commented randomly.

“Who?”

“Gwen. The bride, she sees me,” she never took her eyes off the glass. Once again regaining the view of the gazebo he noticed a blonde staring at the woman to his right shining a victorious smile at the brunette.

An idea flashed through his mind, while looking down at the woman whose name he had let to learn. In that brief instant, he turned her towards him, “play along,” he uttered the two words before leaning in and capturing his lips with hers.

Her mind scattered in to a million thoughts, as the simple kiss that started out as gentle and soft progressed in to passion and heat.

Reluctantly pulling back Fox then said, “Do you think it worked?” he whispered now looking straight in her eyes.

Carefully eyeing he gazebo she noticed Gwen with a somewhat shocked expression on her face as Ethan droned on with his end of the conversation.

“Oh yea.” She smiled broadly, turning to look in to his eyes. “It definitely worked.” She announced. “Now that we've kissed after a few minutes of knowing each other, I feel it's appropriate we learn one another's name.”

“You realize it takes away the mystery.” He looked down at her giving a genuine smile that matched hers.

“I was never one for mystery.”

“Fox.” He simply replied.

“Theresa.” He heard her say.

“I'll see you around, Theresa.” She noticed a pause before her name was spoken, as it were special in some way. He then began to walk away, knowing there was nothing else to say.

Glancing at his back, all she could manage was a whispered, “Bye,” thanking God Harmony was a small town, and she would eventually have the chance to see him again.

With that she walked down the path opposite that Fox had previously been on. This time avoiding the window and Gwen completely, all the while a giddy smile plastered on her face. Exactly like his was at that same moment.
