Christmas Reunion Chapter 1

She was late again. She couldn't believe it. All she had done was sob her brains out this holiday. How could she? Her family needed her. Her family loved her. But she had not helped out at all this Christmas. She still wasn't even ready for mass. If only she had told him the truth her life would be worth living. But right now it wasn't. Not without Ethan. She quickly gave her self a last mirror check, and ran out the door, She was forced to walk the short distance to the church, because her family had left. She had taken so long getting ready.

He stepped out of the car, and looked up. This was his home at one time. His family would probably say go away. He ran away years ago. Sure he saw their pictures over the Internet and stuff, but he wanted to be there. But the facts were he couldn't. But now he was back. He wanted to see his family again. Paloma, Theresa, Luis, Miguel, and Mama. He just wanted to be home.

Antonio slowly walked up the pathway. He reached the door, hoping they were home. Then he saw a tiny note on the door.

We are currently at midnight mass right now

`At least they didn't move.' He thought to himself, while taking off to the church.

Theresa couldn't do it. She couldn't walk in. He was just sitting right there. She started through the window a prayed. She quietly sat down in the white snow, and started to cry.

`Who cares if I'm wearing my Sunday best' she thought to herself, while crying all over her outfit. This was her new life. But she had to be strong. She had to be strong for her child. It didn't matter who the father was anymore. It just mattered that it was part of her. She had to be strong. For her child.

Then she thought to herself, `I never want to leave.' This place was so calm peaceful, beautiful, and her happy place. There were bunnies in the summer, and blue birds in the winter. It was her special perfect place she would go, and nobody would know she was there. Then she noticed a tall figure in front of her. He quietly whispered, “Theresa.”

He went straight to the church. This town had so many memories. He loved this town. He finally reached the church, and looked inside.

He couldn't do it. He couldn't go in. His family looked so happy. He couldn't ruin that. Tony slowly turned and walked away. Then he heard someone crying, out back. He quietly walked towards the figure, and immediately recognized who it was. “Theresa” he said in a concerned voice. He had never seen her like this before. He watched as she slowly lifted her head. “Tony.” He heard.

“What the hell are YOU doing here.” She shouted. She couldn't believe this, how could her long lost brother be standing right before her. “Look Theresa…” he was cut off by her words. “I said, what are you doing here, at the lowest point in my life. The point where I am hurting so badly. Do you know how hard it is to see you again!” she said as she raised her voice into a cold, icy tone. “Look Theresa I'm sorry I left you before, but I had to, because…” but he was yet again cut off. “Why Tony, why? I know the family would love to hear that. You left us alone. Mama had to ship off Paloma, because she couldn't provide food for her. FOOD, Antonio!” her cries became worse and worse. Suddenly she stood up, wrapped her arms around his waist, and clung to him. She just stood there sobbing on his shoulder. She just wanted to go home. But she couldn't leave him. The pain and hurt in his eyes, about what he had done, and what she said. She couldn't let go of him. She had longed to do this years ago. Just stand there with her family. She had so many questions. But she didn't want to ruin the moment. So she just stood there clinging to her older brother, Antonio.

After about 15 minutes of crying on his shoulder she pulled away. “I love you” Theresa cried out. “I love you too little sis.” He whispered in her ear. They silently turned and walked away from the church. He stretched his arm around her shoulder, and they walked away from the church.

Eve looked over at Ethan. How could he be so cruel? To leave the woman he supposedly loved with his child. Or anyone else's. Alone. On the holidays. And to make things worse he was sitting with Gwen. She wondered who he would be sitting with if the baby was his.  He was so fickle. First Gwen, then Theresa, now Gwen.

Eve had to resist the urge to go over and punch him in the face. But that was her life. She also knew secrets that couldn't be told, although Theresa's wasn't bad. A baby was always good. No matter who the parents were. It was great news. But she kept it a secret for so long. Why? Eve would never understand, but she did anyway.

Had he hurt her that badly? She missed mass. Was it because of him? No. She deserved it. She lied. Again. Now he was there with the two people who cared about him. Mother and Gwen. They were always there. Unlike Theresa. She was a deviever. He decided to go take a walk around the grounds.

As Ethan stepped through the door he saw her. With somebody else. Crying on his shoulder. She was a mess. But he was there. He felt overcome with jealousy. He wanted to go over there and punch this guy out for touching Theresa. Being there for her. Well two could play at this game.
